Glenn Berlow

Glenn Berlow was Vice-President of Network Exchange Research and Development Solutions Inc., an internet network and service company. Glenn shared development and marketing responsibility for a number of up and coming web properties. His current projects included an all Canadian technology site, at www.nerds.ca, a Linux for business site at www.L4B.com and a site for internet marketing at www.NetMarketSales.com. The business was located in Vancouver to serve the world, and the growing community north of Yaletown.

Glenn is an early adopter of internet technologies and first went online in 1994. His first e-commerce effort was an online cigar store in 1995, which provided valuable experience from the front-end web-community creation to the back end product fulfillment. The Burning Desires Cigar Club was the perfect platform to learn about the tools and systems required for creating, maintaining, testing and improving an active web site. Like many site owners Glenn wanted a deeper understanding of what elements are important to success on the web. Glenn also had a desire to consolidate and validate the knowledge he had acquired to that point. Luckily the first UBC Internet Marketing Certificate program was announced in the summer of 1997 and Glenn’s application was accepted. As a proud member of the first graduating class of the UBC Internet Marketing Program, Glenn is an accredited Internet Marketer. In 1998 Glenn became the online tutor in the UBC program and over 4 years assisted over a hundred students through the online material and assignments.

While experience is essential to be able to apply for jobs, the UBC program gave him the credentials to begin work on business strategies with Roomlinx, at www.Roomlinx.com, a wireless internet service provider to the hotel industry. Although this first job was ‘pro-bono’, it was good experience and the company provided an ‘internet’ work reference.

In Q4 of 1998, Glenn helped Western Shores Interactive, at
www.westernshores.com and Media Net Solutions at www.medianetsolutions.com, to develop several websites ( http://www.targetpacks.com ) with database integration. Additional duties were to implement an email and data security policy and do employee internet training.

In addition to the work Glenn did for UBC students he consulted with companies on internet business and marketing strategies. Two consulting contracts were been done for start-ups Denmans’ Jewelry at http://www.denmans.com Online Office at http://www.onlineoffice.com and a number of others. Currently he works with small businesses to further their business goals through sales in the internet channel.
